OpenAI agents beat humans 32 minutes to months on mouse brain data
openai agents analyzed mouse brain data in 32 minutes, a task that would take humans months, and produced high-quality results.
openai partnered with perturbai and scripps research to deploy thousands of ai agents that analyzed biological data from millions of mouse cells. the agents, running on gpt-rosalind, worked through a whole-brain crispr atlas and completed the analysis in 32 minutes. human experts preferred the distributed agents' reports over those from a single agent 75% of the time. the resulting 'reasoning atlas' is available on github, and the accompanying paper is out on biorxiv. the findings should help researchers decide which mechanisms to test in the lab first.
